Chris Powell, Director of Sustainable Energy and Environmental Initiatives, gave a presentation titled “Brown University’s Greenhouse Gas Goals”. Mr. Powell outlined the goals and how Brown will achieve them. The goals are to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 42% below 2007 levels for existing buildings by 2020, limit greenhouse gas emissions by reducing energy consumption for all newly constructed buildings to between 25 – 50% below the standard required by state code, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions for all newly acquired facilities by a minimum of 15% and as much as 30%.
